Comedian and journalist Stella Young is tired of people telling her she’s an “inspiration” just for getting up in the morning. In a hilarious, hard-hitting, and thought-provoking talk at TEDxSydney, she explains why.

So, bellydancers!

I need some advice.

What would you do if you felt like you had outgrown your class, or felt like you were no longer interested in going down the same route you feel your class is, but there are no other schools in your area you can take classes from?

And in the meantime,…

That’s an idea:). I have been thinking of signing up for Tamalyn Dallal’s online class there:). thank you. xoxo

36 men show us what real male activists look like

Ultimately, the #YesAllWomen rallying cry reached more than 1 million tweets in the days since the tragedy, outlasting even Kim Kardashian’s wedding on Sunday. But women are not the only ones frustrated by our society’s institutionalized misogyny. So many men, too, reported feeling disgusted by the attitudes of the shooter and his alleged peers, the “men’s rights activists” that not only influenced Rodger, but publicly predicted more violence if men aren’t given what they want.

Men deserve their own space to talk back to these “activists.” Here is just a small part of that response, but you can find more responses or post your own on the hashtag #AllMenCan, because all men can have respect for women without ever becoming less of a man.

Because dancing with the audience is always fun. Even if there’s one person in the background who isn’t enjoying herself. LOL.

Yep, indeed there always has to be one hater. :p

What to do?

So, bellydancers!

I need some advice.

What would you do if you felt like you had outgrown your class, or felt like you were no longer interested in going down the same route you feel your class is, but there are no other schools in your area you can take classes from?

And in the meantime, your dancing is suffering because you no longer want to give up your Saturdays or travel for up to 2 hours during the week to attend a class that no longer inspires you?

I just saw my performance video from Friday…and I SUCK. Big time. My dancing is quickly going from bad to worse.

I no longer dance with the professional troupe because I am so much bigger than the rest of them, they are tiny petite things. No one even comes close to me, not even in height. So of course, for group dances, visually, I stick out like a sore thumb. Plus I am not that interested in the choreographies anymore.

So- I also don’t see the need to learn choreos I don’t really like when I don’t think I will ever perform it. Because when I do book gigs or have performance opportunities, I won’t choose to perform it.

And another thing- I find it difficult to practice on my own. I love being in a classroom environment.

It’s things like this that make me want to stop dancing for a while and just take an extended break from it all.

I love bellydance. But I no longer feel like I need to be part of the class anymore.

What to do?
